Collagen is a type of protein fiber found abundantly throughout our body. Collagen provides strength and cushioning to many different areas of the body, including the skin. In Greek collagen (kólla) means “glue”. Collagen is found in our various types of connective tissues such as cartilage, tendons, bones, and ligaments. 

The body naturally makes its own collagen by breaking down dietary protein into amino acids. The amino acids  build the various types of protein in the body, including collagen.
